Celebrity makeup artist Napoleon Perdis was in his element last night (Monday October 19, 2009) at Elle magazine’s 16th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills Hotel. The makeup guru rubbed shoulders with heavy-hitters including Emily Blunt, Katie Holmes, Julianne Moore, Robin Wright Penn and Renee Zellweger. “Renee has the most charming Texan accent,” said Perdis, “and she looked amazing in her strapless red frock. It was my second time attending Elle’s party, and since it’s such an intimate affair, you really get to connect with people.” Among the women being honored this year was screen legend Julie Andrews. “Having Mary Poppins herself right there in front of me—I was dumbfounded,” adds Perdis.

Most starstruck moment: “Julie Andrews was being honored and she’s such a legend. She's worked with everyone from Omar Sharif to Paul Newman. Having Mary Poppins herself right there in front of me—I was dumbfounded. And then to have Carole Burnett introduce her was magical.”

Starry couple who caught your eye: “Definitely Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, who are getting married soon. They are adorable together, and very friendly.”

Look of the Four Seasons: “It looked stunning. The room was completely white, from the microphone to the carpets. And the tables were set with flowers in deep burgundy.”

On the menu: “Lots of Moet (they were a sponsor) and Roasted Beet Napoleon—not in my honour exactly.”

Funniest episode? “Chatting to news powerhouse Arianna Huffington from the Huffingpost.com in Greek. She’s Athenian and very funny. We exchanged quips.”

Best makeup? “Elle editor-in-chief Robbie Myers—but then I did it myself.”

Boudoir Mist Application Tips

1. Secure hair away from face with a headband, ensuring it covers your ears and sits close to your hairline. Cover clothing and remove earrings.
2. Prime and prepare the skin with Auto Pilot Pre-foundation Primer, Auto Pilot Eye Primer and Auto Pilot Lip Service.
3. Apply concealer on the eye area and anywhere else that needs color correction. 
4. Hold Boudoir Mist Spray Foundation aerosol 20cm (8 inches) from face. Begin with one side of the face, releasing a fine mist. Start from the forehead working down the face, and then upwards from the jaw line towards the forehead (retracing your path).
5. Repeat the same application on the other side of the face.
6. Alternatively, spray product onto a makeup brush such as Sable Foundation Brush 19b or Bronzing Brush and apply to the face.
7. Brush eyebrows with a clear mascara such as Peep Show Mascara in Madame Crystal to remove any excess foundation and set the brows.
8. Remove any excess foundation on the remainder of the face, with a cosmetic sponge or blend out with a makeup brush.
9. Powdering your base is optional.

Renowned Greek songstress Anna Vissi has long been a fan of Napoleon Perdis—she first discovered the brand on tour in Australia several years ago. So when she was looking to unveil a new look for her series of summer concerts in Europe, it was only natural she would tap Napoleon. The pair roadtested beauty looks at a recent cover shoot for the popular Greek magazine Nitro. The shoot unfolded in a gorgeous private house in the Hollywood Hills, and Vissi smouldered for the camera. “Anna, who’s 52, is a major inspiration,” says Napoleon. “She’s living proof of how to look seductive in your fifth decade.”

Vissi, who’s recording her first English language album, is also willing to experiment with makeup.
